Angels Show Up…

Angels Show Up in Unexpected Places

It happened on an airplane during a trip to Florida to visit my in-laws. I had been struggling to recover my health after a bad case of the flu and was hoping that some time in the sun would help me heal. As I boarded the plane I took my seat and began coughing violently much to the dismay of the other passengers. A gentile white-haired lady sat down next to me who seemed oblivious to my condition. She greeted me with a smile and a nod. From the moment she sat down, my coughing stopped and I didn’t cough again the rest of the trip. Throughout the flight she radiated love to me. When I told her things about my life, she smiled and said, “I know, dear.” I wanted to ask about her life, but seemed unable to get the questions out. Whatever information I was able to gather, I couldn’t retain in my memory. As we disembarked the plane, I thanked her for her companionship and then searched for my in-laws at the gate. The next thing I know, she walked up to my hosts and said to them, “You need to love her.” I explained to them that she was the lovely lady who sat next to me on the plane. As I turned around to see where she was heading, I realized she was gone. No where in sight. She had literally disappeared in the large terminal!

There are people or “angels” in our lives who show up when we most need them. They may be friends or family members or, perhaps, a complete stranger who appears unexpectedly just at the right moment to assist us through some difficulty. Their intention is to remind us that we are loved and supported. And their message is deeply appreciated. I am forever grateful for the kindness from the loving angel who flew with me that day.

My Spirit Brightens…

My Spirit Brightens the World

To say “My Spirit Brightens the World,” seems a bit arrogant at first glance. But maybe we have this arrogance/humility thing upside down. All of life is an extension of Divine Source… meaning the energy that creates Universes is flowing through everyone and everything. This Source energy is a powerful loving intelligence that orchestrates life’s design. Our individual Spirit is the essence of this pure, positive energy of Divine Source as it animates us. We have been gifted with an eternally loving and light-filled Spirit that holds the truth of who we are in our ancient memories. Accepting our part in this Divine plan is an expression of humility. Acknowledging our spiritual heritage is a reflection of our deepest appreciation. It is the ego’s arrogance that tells us that we are unworthy. But fortunately, no powers of the ego can change the Divine design.
Look around at the physical world. All of Nature exuberantly expresses the energy of its Source. The vast array of flowers are our teachers as they unabashedly revel in the beauty of the energy that flows through them. An orchid does not apologize for its brilliance. It simply allows its vibrant spirit to bless and brighten the world.

Love, Laugh & …

Love, Laugh & Lighten Up

What better time to write a blog about getting lighter than when I am feeling a bit down? No apparent reason for my off mood… just life, I guess. Normal stress stuff. Sometimes I just wish life was easier. No aches or pains, no disappointments, just ease and flow. But I have to admit that some of my best insights come at the expense of my own personal comfort…meaning I don’t usually dig down deep for answers until I’m forced to. Human nature, I think. Most of us wait as long as possible before turning the searchlight inward. I’ve garnered a lot from life through observation and personal experiences. I’ve learned that people who love deeply seem to be more true to their purpose than anyone else. It is as if they know a precious secret in their hearts. Those who laugh easily can magically transform the mood of a situation no matter how sad it is. And those who are connected to the essence of their Spirit tend to experience life from a lighter heart space. They don’t take themselves or misfortunes too seriously. They convey a trust that all will turn out well regardless of the current outlook. Theirs is a world of love, laughter, and a lightness of being that calls each of us to discover again our own nurturing connection to our Divine Source.

Confidence is…

Confidence is… Loving Who You Are

Confidence is a sticky thing. Too little and you can be called timid or shy, too much and you’re considered brazen or self-centered. Confidence is usually associated with the ego… that part of our personality that is focused on worldly concerns. But I think there is a different kind of confidence, where none of those terms apply. It has nothing to do with the ego. There is a confidence that emerges from a deep place within the soul that understands the true nature of who we are. Just as the flowers boldly display their vivid magenta and purple colors, we too have been created to express the magnificence of our inner landscapes. Children in their naivete sing and dance and proudly “show-off” their talents because they have not forgotten what their spirit knows. They enjoy the daily discovery of new abilities and skills because they have not yet learned to judge themselves through ego’s eyes. Theirs is a confidence that flows from an awareness of their inner genius. We, like the children, are here to express our spirit through our many gifts. Our confidence can be a reflection of the joy of life as it creatively moves through us. When we remember again what our inner child already knows, we can’t help but fall in love with who we truly are.

Honor Our Uniqueness

So what’s unique about me? I’m sure someone on the planet looks like me or laughs like me or even loves ice cream as much as I do, but the combination of those characteristics begins to define who I am. My crooked smile and quirky sensitivity further shape my specific way of being. Add in my curiosity about life and the way I receive intuitive insights and you can see a unique person taking shape. My response to life’s opportunities and challenges is the foundation for my characteristic expression. Just by being me, I offer something new to the world. As I look at life through my hazel eyes, I have a perspective that no one else has or will ever have. The Source energy that creates worlds flows through me experiencing life in a way that is totally unique. Moment by moment as my perspective expands and evolves, so does Source. That means that my life is an integral part of the expansion of ALL that we call life. Each of us, through our individual experiences, plays an essential part in this Divine design. As we honor our uniqueness, we honor the exquisite diversity and eternally evolving nature of the Universe. That’s something to celebrate!
